Clarity

The clarity of a diamond is determined by the quantity/type of its contents. A diamond examined under a 10x optical magnifier has a relatively high rating if it contains a small amount of impurities.
1: What is diamond clarity?
Diamond clarity refers to the visual cleanliness of diamonds, diamonds for 4C one of the standards. The defects affecting its grade are divided into two categories, the internal defects are called inclusions, and the surface defects are called surface defects. The criteria for evaluating the clarity of a diamond include the number, size, type, location, and visibility of the defects that affect the overall appearance of the diamond. Diamond clarity must be rated with a 10x magnifying glass. Obviously, the smaller the flaw in a diamond, the higher its rank and value.

2: Diamond Clarity rating table

In general, a diamond with a VS2 rating or higher is usually clear to the naked eye (no obvious inclusions are visible without the aid of a magnifying glass) . Stones between the SI1 and SI2 levels may be clear to the eye, but the degree of blemish is relatively high, but this type of diamond has good value for money. Since the degree of purity seen by the human eye depends on the degree of vision of the individual, and the content of the gem is also affected by it, diamonds of the SI class series must be individually identified.
Diamonds below I1 clarity are not generally recommended because they often contain visible inclusions and continue to cause problems in the future.
3. How to choose the clarity of a diamond?
-
A flawless diamond may have the highest possible clarity rating, but that doesn’t guarantee that it will shine. In fact, SI1 and SI2 diamonds may look just as pure and beautiful to the naked eye.
-
Some people buy FL or IF grade diamonds simply because they want the best. The diamond with the best clarity gives you the best value, but most consumers don’t have that requirement. VS or SI-grade diamonds can provide you with good value for money.
-
In fact, most average viewers can’t tell the difference between a VS1 and a SI1 diamond, but they can easily spot the difference in size. So it’s worth it to buy a larger, heavier diamond with a lower clarity level but a perfect color.
-
In the purchase of VS1 or higher level of diamonds, do not need too much concern about the purity of the diamond line of sight. If the diamond is rated by the GIA body, without the help of the 10x magnifying glass, you will not see the contents of the diamond.
